OK, it's my first post here, but I have lurked for some time, and I LURVE Danny Phantom. So, here is my first DP drabble.

It has been twenty long, long years that he has been forced to live in the Ghost Zone, putting down various rebellions and keeping ghosts out of the real world. But now, finally, he is back, and he is at her doorstep, hoping against all reason that she is still there, that she waited for him.

He rings the doorbell and waits, tapping his foot, his hands shaking slightly. He has not been in the real world for twenty years…he has not been human for years, and it is a welcome change.

Then the door swings open and there she is…Sam. Age has changed her; she has softened everywhere, curves where there were edges before.

She stares at him.

“Sam…” he begins, but before he can get farther, a voice from inside cuts him off, and Sam turns to it.

“Who is it, Sam?” The voice is deep, masculine, male. It is just then that Danny notices the small girl standing behind the door, with hair like Sam’s, like her mother’s, braided back into two long plaits. And he realizes that he has come too late, that she, unlike him, has moved on.

“Well—” Sam says, unsure, turning back to him, but by that time he is gone, phased through the sidewalk.

For the first time in his life, he truly believes that it would be better to be a full ghost, to not be human at all, so that he would have no heart to break.

Like I said, my first DP drabble. Anyone who reads and comments shall be loved forever!
